Mama Shell Afrika was born from a legacy of craftsmanship that began in the 1990s in a small curio shop in Nairobi. What started with my mother’s love for shells and calabashes has grown into a journey of a studio focused on decor objects for interior spaces. Today, Mama Shell Afrika focuses on creating repeatable wall and decor pieces that draw on traditional materials while meeting contemporary production and export standards.
We design and produce our own collections in-house, using a consistent material system and repeatable processes.
Our pieces are produced in small batches, allowing for consistency across multiple orders.
Each product has defined dimensions, materials, finishes, and weight ranges. Customization is available within these systems.
All pieces are inspected before packing. Finishes, dimensions, and surface quality are checked against reference samples.
We package all work for international shipping using reinforced cartons or crates, depending on fragility.
We regularly export to Europe and North America and can work with your preferred freight forwarder.
Typical lead times are 4-6 weeks depending on quantity. Timelines are confirmed before production begins.
We welcome pilot orders and trade collaborations with designers and studios.
If a piece arrives damaged or incorrect, we take responsibility and resolve it.
